2 children among 3 killed in Palpa landslide

PALPA Nepal, JUL 22 -
Three persons, including two children, were killed in two separate landslides in Palpa district.
Fourteen-year-old Prem Kumari Darlami and 11-year-old Bishnu Darlami were buried when landslide triggered by incessant rainfall buried them at Khanichap-7, Aamdanda in the district. They had gone to watch television at a relative's house when the landslide buried them.
Another woman who attempted to save them was injured in the incident.
Similarly, Durga Bahadur Sunari, 56, was killed when his house collapsed in the landslide at Pipaldanda-7 in Argidanda, Palpa. Sunari's son Chabilal, 13, was injured in the incident.
Likewise, police said that 5-year-old Rita Bhattarai of Kuwakot in Syanjga district has gone missing in a landslide in the district. Bhattarai had gone to fetch water when she was swept away, police said.
Meanwhile, vehicular movement has been halted due to landslide at various places of Siddhartha Highway and other road sections including Tansen-Tamghas, Burtung-Ramdi. Attempts are underway to open the blocked road, police said.
