Gandhi for democratic forces' unity in Nepal

GandhiKATHMANDU, JUL 26 - Chairperson of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and the United Progressive Alliance (UPA),Sonia Gandhi , has stressed on the need for "unity among Nepal'sdemocratic forces ."
Gandhi on Thursday met visiting former Prime Minister and senior leader of the CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal at her residence at 10 Janapath here.
"She has her party and the UPA want to see unity among thedemocratic forces in Nepal, consolidation of democratic rights with the drafting of the constitution, and an early end to the ongoing political transition in Nepal," Rajan Bhattarai, a member of the UML's Foreign Department, told the Post over telephone from Delhi.
Bhattarai, who is accompanying Nepal to the Indian capital, quoted Gandhi as saying that "those forces who have agreed to join the election process and to transform Nepal economically and are committed to drafting a new constitution should come together. The decision taken by the democratic forces , including those supporting election s and ending the transition, will be welcomed by India." 
Earlier in the day, Nepal held talks with Indian Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai and discussed a wide range of issues, including the November election s.
Nepal also held talks with Nationalist Congress Party leader DP Tripathi and Sajjan Singh Burma, a member of the Lok Sabha from the Congress-I.
